Free Legal Advice

We give FREE legal advice to Aucklanders who can’t afford it.

Our services are designed to empower people to resolve their own legal issues. We mostly do this over the phone with information, advice, assistance and self-help resources. You might speak to one our dedicated volunteers or one of our staff solicitors (our full time community lawyers). We can also meet you in person at one of our legal clinics our our office in Auckland Central.

First, we will give you a chance to tell us about your legal issue. We will ask questions to clarify the facts and make sure we understand what you need help with. We might then need to take some time to research the issue. We will then advise you on the law and on what your next steps could or should be.

If you are facing a life changing legal situation, we may also be able to provide further assistance.

We can usually only provide free legal advice to Aucklanders on low incomes who meet our eligibility criteria. We provide our services subject to our Standard Terms of Engagement.
